Speaking or Silent? – Psalm 58 & 67

Dear Church Family,

Psalm 67:3 “May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.”

This Sunday the weather forecast is threatening thunderstorms during our morning worship service time. If we cannot meet outside, we will not at this time be meeting indoors. We will be making an announcement by 8:00 am on Sunday morning if the service would need to be canceled. If we do not meet together in the morning, I will plan to preach this week’s sermon during the evening Outdoor Worship Service. We continue to offer pre-recorded services of worship and the message. View the services at www.buttervalleycc.org or search YouTube for Butter Valley Community Church.

Announcements

Some of our young people are producing and involved in online content for Camp Men-O-Lan. It can be viewed on FaceBook on the Camp Men-O-Lan page. Check it out!

Online giving is available on our website at www.buttervalleycc.org under the drop-down menu “Resources.” You can also mail checks to the church office at BVCC, PO Box 97, Bally, PA 19503. Thank you to all for your faithful giving during this time.

Each year we collect School Kits to give out to students in need in the USA and around the world. They are dispersed through the Material Resource Center in Harleysville. We plan to collect them this year up until August 23. Now is the time to get the best deals on school supplies at the large stores. A flyer was sent out in last week’s email to let you know what exact supplies are needed for each bag. The school kit bags are available and are located on the offering table.

Kids’ Kamp is scheduled for August 3-7 from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon. Please pray that we will have the opportunity to share the gospel with the children of this community and that it will be a blessing to many.  Pray for safety and that God will be preparing the hearts of the campers and the volunteers.  Kids’ Kamp is open for any children going into Kindergarten through Grade 6.   Registration is available on Monday morning upon arrival. A flyer with information is included with this email.

Our church is having an Outdoor Worship Night this Sunday, August 2, at 7 pm. It will be in the same style as previous worship nights with contemporary, yet familiar praise songs. Everyone is invited.

Prayer Requests

Pray for the government leaders of our state and country to have wisdom and discernment.

Pray for sound decisions to be made surrounding schools opening in the fall.

Pray for the completion of the building addition which has about two months of planned work left.

Opportunities to Gather

Starting next Sunday, August 9, from 9:30-10:00 am, we will be holding a time of prayer outside.  All are welcome to join in this time of prayer for our communities, this country and the world.

Our Worship Service begins at 10 am. Please feel free to invite others to our outdoor services. Come out and join us in your folding chairs or remain in your vehicle. We continue to stress giving at least six feet of distance between people while talking or sitting. The message this week is from Psalm 58 and 67 and is entitled “Speaking or Silent?”

Young Adult Sunday School Class meet each week outside after the Sunday morning worship service.

Our next BVCC Prayer Meeting is on Tuesday, August 11, at 6:30 pm. We hope you can join us in this important time of prayer for our church and the needs around us.  The link for the meeting is in the weekly email, or contact Pastor Mark.

The Women’s Ministry is hosting a Summer Book Club. “The Masterpiece” by Francine Rivers’ book club met for our first meeting and enjoyed discussing this book.  If you would like to join us for the second meeting, please do!  The next meeting is planned for August 10, at 6:30, outside the church. Hope to see you there.

Youth Group will not be held this week during Kid’s Kamp.

The Survivor Croquet Tournament for the youth group is scheduled for Friday, August 28. We want to be at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville

Blessings,

Pastor Mark
