Choir sings weekly and consists of a mixed group of adults and youth. The singing is in traditional four part harmonies with anthems sung a few times monthly which include hymns, contemporary songs, and various other blended arrangements. Members meet for rehearsals weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. and also for a quick rehearsal and prayer time on Sunday morning, usually near the end of the Sunday School hour. The choir season normally spans from September through June with a summer vacation.
Choir vacation Sundays offer the opportunity for special music.
This group leads contemporary praise and worship songs during the Sunday Worship Service weekly. It is comprised of singers and musicians that play a variety of instruments including guitar, bass and percussion. Rehearsal times are fluid—normally a weekday evening for an hour and then a short rehearsal and prayer time before Sunday School on Sunday mornings. The Praise Team also does worship nights multiple times a year that are focused on prayer, reflecting on scripture and worshiping the Lord through various types of musical styles.
Butter Valley Community Choir
This is a group of musicians that has our church choir as its core and also includes singers from churches in the community. They meet weekly for rehearsals from October through December and then again from February through April. They prepare a cantata to be presented to the community during the Christmas season and also during the Easter season. Those who come to listen are able to join us in singing some carols or hymns interwoven with scripture.
Throughout the year and especially during the summer months, musically gifted members of the congregation and guests present special selections during the worship service. Some of our college students who study music return and bless us with their music ministry as well. We enjoy hearing them use their God given talents.
