Missionary Psalms Sermons

The Early Church Was A Church In Prayer

Dear Church Family,

Psalm 50:15 “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Prayer Requests

Pray that the continued consequences of racism and social injustice be repented of and that all people would see the humanity in each other as people created in the image of God. Pray for people to be treated with justice, compassion, and respect.

Pray for peace for our country, for the safety of police officers and protestors, and for an end to the destruction and violence.

Pray for the unity of our churches around the Lord’s call for us to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.

Message from Dave Parson, our missionary with Unto–”Dear BVCC, Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and financial gifts throughout this past year. Your partnership with me as I serve the Lord with Unto has been a source of great blessing. Thank you for the raise in my support. I continue to pray for you during these challenging times of ministry.”

Message from Boyertown Area Multi-Service–”Your support means so much to those we serve–especially now! Thank you!”

Opportunities to Gather

Our attendance has been around 130 people the last two Sundays. This past week we enjoyed hearing from our graduates and their parents with our Graduate Recognition Sunday. A video of that part of our outdoor service is available for viewing on the church website at www.buttervalleycc.org.

We plan to meet this Sunday outside and to continue this practice for the near future. After a rainy week, please keep asking our Lord for weather on Sundays that allows us to gather outside. Come out and join us in your folding chairs or remain in your vehicle. We continue to stress giving at least six feet of distance between people while talking or sitting. Our Worship Service begins at 10 am. Please feel free to invite others to our services. I know lots of people are anxious to praise the Lord among a group of believers.

This week we will have a guest speaker who will join us. Andrew and Karen Bush have been called as missionaries to Israel with Mission Ministries. He is currently pastoring a church in Jerusalem with online messages. They were not able to travel to Israel as planned due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Our parking will be different on Sunday as Fensty’s Flea Market is opening again this weekend. They said we can park anywhere from the edge of the building (where the broken down white vinyl fence is located) toward Main St (Rt 100). You can also park along the BCC/cemetery as before. If we run out of parking there, we can park you in the church parking lot.

We will continue to offer pre-recorded services. Watch it at www.buttervalleycc.org or search YouTube for Butter Valley Community Church.

We are not planning on continuing After-church Zoom Meetings, but we invite those who cannot or choose not to attend in person to join our Zoom Meetings for Prayer. These meetings will give opportunity for interaction with other church members. The Prayer Meetings are scheduled for the Second and Fourth Tuesdays of the month.

BVCC Prayer Meeting On Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30 pm

Today our Youth Group will be on Sunday, June 7, from 6:30-8:30 pm. We were scheduled to meet this past Wednesday, but we postponed due to rainy weather. We plan to be outside for the evening so please consider bringing layers to stay warm. This week we are planning for Youth Group on Wednesday, June 10, from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Our plan is to begin an Adult Sunday School Class on Sunday, June 21, at 9 am in the sanctuary. This class will continue Charles Jones’ class on the Spiritual Discipline utilizing Richard Foster’s book Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth. We have a few copies available at church so please ask if you would like a copy, or order one yourself, or simply attend without a copy. They will begin with chapter 7, but reading the chapter is not required to participate. They will discuss the discipline of solitude which I’m sure everyone has thoughts and feelings about now.

Announcements

Online giving is available on our website at www.buttervalleycc.org under the drop-down menu “Resources.” You can also mail checks to the church office at BVCC, PO Box 97, Bally, PA 19503. Thank you to the church for your faithful giving during this time.

Here is a way to give of your time and effort. Our painting sub-contractor started today, so he plans to finish his work of priming the walls this week. The Fellowship Hall committee has chosen to ask the church to help with painting the walls of the one-story height rooms. We are not painting the two-story multi-purpose room. If you would like to help with the painting process, which will begin this week potentially, please reach out to Ron Wlodyga who is overseeing the project.

We would like to form some Task Forces to determine plans and priority lists for three different areas of the church affected by the addition. We are seeking those willing to help with:

  • Planning for the redesign of the current church building (specifically relating to new entryways)
  • Planning the design and function of the children’s ministry wing
  • Planning out the furniture/interior design of the church addition

If you are interested in any of these areas, please let Pastor Mark know.
