Cast Your Burdens on the Lord – Psalm 55

Dear Church Family,

Psalm 55:16 “As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me.”

Prayer Requests

Pray for the government leaders of our state and country to have wisdom and discernment.

Praise that we had a wonderful three days of VBS. We had 30 children on Monday, 36 on Tuesday, and 33 children present on Wednesday. They had a great time, and pray that they grow and develop in their faith. The parents were very grateful for this ministry to their children. Thank you to the many volunteers who made this happen.

Pray for the completion of the building addition which has about two months of planned work left.

Please be in prayer for a unified church vision with the vote for hiring a Ministry Coordinator.

Opportunities to Gather

The Summer Concert schedule is printed, and if you do not have one, please ask one of the ushers. The first outdoor concert was very short due to heavy rains. Our next concert is Sonny and the SOS Gang who are scheduled for July 26 at 7:00 pm.

We offer an Adult Sunday School Class every Sunday, at 9 am in the sanctuary. Charles Jones leads this class on the Spiritual Discipline utilizing Richard Foster’s book Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth.

Our Worship Service begins at 10 am. This will be our 10th Sunday that we are able to meet together outside, and we are grateful to God.  Please feel free to invite others to our outdoor services. Come out and join us in your folding chairs or remain in your vehicle. We continue to stress giving at least six feet of distance between people while talking or sitting. The message this week is from Psalm 55 and will be given by Charles Jones.  We are now meeting on Sunday facing the rampin order to make use of the shade that is available.  Parking attendants will be there to guide those who are driving in to the service.  Please continue to park off site to make more room.  We invite you to bring and set up canopies if you would like to do that. Folding chairs will still be available outside the garage.

We continue to offer pre-recorded services of worship and the message. View the services at www.buttervalleycc.org or search YouTube for Butter Valley Community Church.

Our next BVCC Prayer Meeting is on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:30 pm. We hope you can join us in this important time of prayer for our church and the needs around us.

Youth Group is planned for Wednesday, July 22, from 6:30-8:30 pm. We plan to gather completely outdoors.

The Women’s Ministry would like to invite all the women of the church to a Book Club this summer. “The Masterpiece” by Francine Rivers’ book club will meet for the first time on Monday, July 27 at 6:30 pm. Location to be determined. If you are interested in joining the book club please read chapters 1 through 20. There are discussion questions in the back of the book if you want to have a heads up on what we will be discussing that night. Our second meeting will be held on Monday, August 10 after finishing the book. There is no sign-up to attend this book club. If you need help locating a book or would be interested in sharing a book with someone, contact Kelly Hetrick. The book is available in paperback or digital version.  Here is a link to the listing on Amazon.com.  The listing also shares some information about the book.  It may also be available at a local library.

If you plan to attend the picnic this coming Saturday, please let us know. Burgers, hot dogs and buns will be provided this year. Please bring a salad, side dish and/or dessert to share. Modifications to serving the food will be made. If you feel more comfortable bringing your own food, you are welcome to do that as well. The picnic is a completely outdoor event held at Camp Men-o-lan. Attached is a flyer with additional information and a schedule for the day. Friends and family are welcome to join us that day. There is an RSVP this year that will help us prepare food for the group. You can RSVP in person at church on a Sunday morning, through the link below, or on the attached flyer.

Each year we collect School Kits to give out to students in need in the USA and around the world. They are dispersed through the Material Resource Center in Harleysville. We plan to collect them this year up until the end of August. Now is the time to get the best deals on school supplies at the large stores. Bags are not available this week, but they will soon be available if you feel lead to give in this way. It is important that you buy only the type of items described. All kits are to include the same contents. The following items are to be included:

  • 4 spiral or perforated notebooks (8 1⁄2 x 10 1⁄2 in and 70 sheets)
  • 8 unsharpened pencils
  • 1 ruler (flat, flexible plastic; indicating both 30 cm and 12 in)
  • 12 colored pencils (in packaging)
  • 1 large pencil eraser
  • 2 new black or blue ballpoint pens

Our Capital Campaign is about 83% completed for the 3-year collection period. Through your generous and sacrificial giving we have raised over 118% of the pledge goal. We have donated a total of $349,217.95 toward the building project. Praise God for His faithfulness through the generosity of His people! This is wonderful news, and as you continue to give our total mortgage need continues to decrease. As we meet our pledge goals, we will work together to minimize the mortgage! You are welcome to tour the progress of the building addition after the service today.

Kids’ Kamp is scheduled for August 3-7 from 10:00 am till 12:00 noon. Students in the youth group who would like to help, please contact Amy Hager or one of the other youth leaders. We plan to have the youth go home each day to have dinner and sleep.
